Hey guys, recently i have had a couple people inquire about our leagues policies on free agents and trading. Below is how we will go about these transactions.

Free Agents

A mid season free agent pick up may make or break your team heading into the final stretch. Most of the time they're good decisions. Within our league free agent signings will be easy to go about. we have only one requirement;

FREE AGENCY IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

I will keep a list updated of player moves and remove free agents from the list that have been signed. I would appreciate it if when you sign a free agent to either post it or let me know by any form of contact as it will help me keep things up to date, and just remember the only rule, ONE per day. If you violate the rule a warning will be issued but i think we'll be fine.

Trades

Trades are just as important as a good free agent signing but are a little more complicated to achieve. Both teams have to be satisfied with the trade in order to work but they also have to be fair. All trades will go through Three stages as listed below.

1. Trade has to be proposed to both teams and both teams must agree to the trade in principal.

2.From there the trade will have to either be posted on the site or messaged to me in any manner. I will then make a decision as to if your trade is approved or denied. For example: If Baltimore and Cincinnati want to trade Markakis for Votto. If both teams agree it would then go to me. I would deny the trade because Votto is an All-star fielder and Markakis, even though very solid, is aging and would not benefit the Reds by acquiring him. So this is implemented to make sure it is fair for both teams.

3. Last but not least, IF NEEDED i will get a second opinion on the trade via third party expert. Also i will update our trade section as transactions are made.

If you decide to trade amongst yourself's and go above these requirements, the trade will be negated and you will have a two week trade ban. These are very simple rules guys and we should never have to do this but some people don't follow rules well.

Please let me know if you have any questions that are not answered in here. Look over these so you know what to do when the time comes.

Thank You

Shouldn't lesser teams get 1st shot at free agents to help even out the league? like maybe have an initial free agent draft before opening it up as 1st come 1st serve?

I don't like this at all it rewards the people who are able to be on when it opens. Not much of "system" you have here. More like you get to open up FA and snag the player you want to first. Alot of these teams are nowheres near competing with the yankees and redsox type of teams. I would think its the least that could be done.

Should be at worst a draft style managed on the boards. Its not that difficult to do just forbid anyone from signing FAs and have them post them when their turn is up.

I understand your concern, but speaking as a owner of a power team, I have no interest in signing free agents as I have no need. Free agentcy is not a draft proccess in the MLB and at the moment is not implemented in our league either. One pick up a day will give every team the same oppertunity to sign players. I am not out to allow anyone the ability to stack up by limiting the number you can sign. I've played in many leagues and cleaned house on opening day of free agency even with a draft points system because there was no limit to how many players I could sign. I think you will see once we get going, it really makes a huge difference.

Maybe your not but someone will be out to get the best players available on day one just to "stack" their team. Most people don't go by need, they go by want...

Everyone has the ability to sign whom ever they want off the free agent list. Pittsburgh has the same opportunity to sign a player as does the Red Sox. It is of your discretion and level of need as to how quickly you acquire a player. The MLB is not a lottery system league, so with all respects to every team, free agency is a first come first serve basis. I could opt to keep the free agents closed until the half way mark of the season when teams should know by then if they need players or not, but the way to acquire the players will remain the same, One free Agent signed per day. This goes for every team.Every team can sign one free agent per day if they choose to do so. You cannot save 3 days and sign 3 players on whatever day you choose. One a day no matter if you sign or not. This is final.

I have to agree with ItsKindaLikeThat, the free agent system does seem flawed. I understand that the MLB does not utify a ranking system, but this is fantasy. Thus, i feel that there should be a waiver wire system or simply a system that stops your power teams from hoarding. If i had boston, id still dump my slum reserves for some of those free agents. Just to keep other teams from acquiring them and making themselves better.

Not complaining, but i figure this system will only aid those who make it online daily. Some of us can't.

Can everyone shut up and play baseball? there is a waiting list and you do not run the league. Danielson34 does, and if he says jump, then jump. If he says the free agency works this way, then this is the way its gonna be.

If you neglected to pick a good team, or are unsatisfied, then i guess you suffer from a personal problem.

Bottom line,
Get some kleenex and wipe your eyes sweet heart.

What's the point of a bulletin board and thread if we can't put our two cents in? Are ideas not welcome in this league? I understand that we have a commissioner who has the final say, but expressing thoughts shouldn't be frowned upon. And then I get told to stfu by some guy north off the border? Completely out of line. When we joined this league we were told to be friendly and to participate. No one ever said the commissioner shouldn't have powerto decide. Easy there maple leaf, and stay out of a conversation you weren't participating in properly.

Instead of just saying it flawed...Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
The interface on the PS3 will not allow it so we would need to do something on the bulletin board

Example:
1. Free Agent requests are made Monday through Friday in the Free Agency section of the website.
2. Multiple claims for the same player will be rewarded to the team with the worst record.

Any other ideas???

its cool relax, we need to find a way that everyone is good with. At the moment this is not going to work so until we find a way free agency will be closed. We need simple yet effective methods, Drafts are complicated as all we have are the forums. so lets think about it.
